COVA Learning Approach
(Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity)
The Roots
COVA can work in a plethora of ways. Expanding and fine tuning the creative thinking process will enable individuals to think outside of the box. Knowing that we all have a choice in which we must take ownership towards those choices, voices will ultimately be heard throughout authentic learning.
Flipped Classroom
Your Go-To Source
This is innovative and intuitive towards decoding and encoding information. Technology is used to help facilitate learning inside and outside of the classroom.

Sending students home with textbook homework is considered conforming to the early years of teaching. Without digital knowledge, our kids are stuck in the past when learning is concerned. Some may be better at digital and auditory learning compared to basic text book reading and answering questions.

The flipped classroom approach is quite unique in its own way. Kids can have assignments that include reviewing videos at home which will give them a chance to further research in the comfort of their own environment. By doing so, they will want to further dissect what is being learned. Thus, creating a sense of eagerness to obtain more information. It’s one thing to have information to look up, but its far better when students are self-taught through their own curiosity.

Expanding on the curiosity will make learning enjoyable and as educators, that should be a universal common goal, make learning enjoyable opposed to a dreadful chore or unattainable task. Once students arrive back to school discussions about what has been learned will have a deeper meaning. Overall, learning has been doubled throughout the day. At school and at home, students will be openly engaged because the bulk of the research was done on their own.

Michael Fullan expressed this in the clip below. Our students have to be eager to learn and by doing so in a digital format, this will ensure their learning.

Thinking Outside of The Box Through Creative Thinking
This form of teaching is slowly gaining in stride. Creative mindsets by students and staff are making learning fun once again and it’s about time. It’s quite interesting to witness the transformation in my lifetime and to know that my generation plays a major part in this transformation. Creativity is a state of mind that will not vanish. Setting up classrooms in group settings that allow peer interaction and teaching amongst students is a sure way to improve learning.

Giovanni Corazza emphases on using a combination and association of ideas towards creative thinking. Be open minded, fluent, look for alternatives and not for the correct answer. When you think creatively there’s no single correct answer there’s many possible alternatives. Click below to preview the video.
